I like to feed the birds (and the squirrels, a natural accompaniment to bird feeding), but I will no longer buy seeds or suet in plastic. Seeds are easy; a local mill packages them in paper bags. I am still buying a one-time bag, but I am pondering ways to reuse those bags rather than recycling them. Suet at our local stores comes in individual plastic wrappers, but I found suet recipes online by searching under “homemade suet”. Here is one on the Audubon site:
P.S. For my local friends, the paper bags are from Rogers Mill, and I buy them at Beiler’s Market in Uniontown (Ohio).
