Western Columbiana County History

The Western Columbiana County Historical Society will hold an open house from 1-4 p.m.  Aug. 7 and 14, 2011, at the museum on Homeworth Road in Homeworth. There will be no admission charge, but donations will be accepted. A 50/50 drawing will be held.
The museum, housed in the former Middle Sandy Presbyterian Church building, was sold to the society for $1 in 1964 after a new church building was erected. Memorabilia from people and places in western Columbiana County is displayed. Items of historic significance include a large model of an oil field ca. 1920, clothing, tools, maps, photos, books and scrapbooks.
The next meeting of the historical society will be at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 26 at Middle Sandy Evangelical Presbyterian Church on Homeworth Road. New members and visitors are welcome to attend.
